This project involves the migration of an extensive multi-site installation from another CMS to TYPO3. The platform supports multiple standalone sites, each available in different languages, and offers a flexible authorization system. A specially developed interface to Mailchimp enables the automated sending of news alerts to subscribers based on the latest news. In addition, a central directory for content elements, documents and images has been implemented to facilitate sharing and management by all backend users.
Functionalities in detail
- Migration of the multi-site platform to TYPO3:
- The existing multi-site installation was successfully migrated to a new TYPO3 platform, including the site structures, page content and user rights.
- The new TYPO3 structure allows the management of multiple standalone sites in one centralized installation, simplifying administration and improving performance.
- Support for multiple languages per site:
- Each site on the platform supports a specific selection of languages tailored to the needs of the target groups.
- TYPO3 allows flexible language management so that new languages can be added for specific sites as required.
- Sophisticated authorization system for backend users:
- A granularly configured authorization system ensures that certain users can only access specific sites, while others have user rights for multiple sites.
- This role-based access control ensures that users can only edit the content for which they are authorized, while supporting the secure and efficient administration of the platform.
- Automatic news alert with Mailchimp integration:
- The platform is connected to Mailchimp via a custom-built interface so that the latest news can be automatically sent to subscribers as email campaigns.
- When new news marked for the news alert is published, the system automatically creates a new Mailchimp campaign, reducing manual effort and enabling up-to-date communication with subscribers.
- Special management of news for targeted publication:
- The news management allows differentiated control, defining which news items are to be published exclusively on the website and which are also to be sent via news alert.
- This enables precise adjustment of the communication strategy and targeted distribution of important content.
- Central directory for shared content:
- All content elements, documents and images are stored in a central directory that is available to all backend users.
- This directory enables uniform use and reuse of content across sites, increasing efficiency and consistency in content creation.
